Default First weekend Power rankings

http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2014/0218...ms_576x324.jpg

Rankings as per ESPNU

Upsets reigned supreme in college baseball's opening weekend as big-name programs lost to mid-majors all weekend long, turning this week's power rankings into chaos. But keep in mind, this is still just the first weekend of action. There will be many more games to judge the best college teams by in the weeks to come. For now, take every ranking with a sizable grain of salt and just know that consequences get heavier week by week.

On to the rankings.
1. Oregon State (4-0)
Trending :
Last week: 1
Of note: Mound starters Andrew Moore, Jace Fry and Scott Schultz combined for a 2.25 ERA and just three walks in 20 innings.

2. South Carolina (3-0)
Trending :
Last week: 3
Of note: Don't get comfortable, Gamecocks, not every team will be as generous as Bucknell, which surrendered 41 runs, 39 hits and issued 21 walks to the Gamecocks.

3. Cal State Fullerton (2-1)
Trending :
Last week: 7
Of note: After routing Washington State 12-0 on opening night, the Titans and Cougars went toe-to-toe the next two nights. Fullerton took the series on a bottom-of-the-ninth RBI single from Jared Deacon on Sunday.

4. Vanderbilt (3-0)
Trending :
Last week: 12
Of note: Impressive weekend at Blair Field for the Commodores, as 10 pitchers combined to hold Long Beach State to 13 hits and five walks.

5. Oregon (4-0)
Trending :
Last week: 6
Of note: The Ducks took all four at Hawaii. Super-frosh Matt Krook started Game 3 (a 6-5 win), going seven innings and giving up just five hits and eight K's, but he also had seven wild pitches.

6. Florida State (3-0)
Trending :
Last week: 8
Of note: The Seminoles got some solid starting pitching from Luke Weaver, Brandon Leibrandt and Mike Compton, who combined for 17 shutout innings in the sweep of Niagara. Jameis Winston also got his first save in Game 2.

7. LSU (3-0)
Trending :
Last week: 10
Of note: Junior All-American Aaron Nola and freshman Jared Poche each went 6.0 innings and gave up four hits in their respective starts versus New Orleans and Grambling.

8. NC State (1-1)
Trending :
Last week: 2
Of note: A dubious start for the Wolfpack as Canisius stunned them in a 3-0 shutout loss after the first two games on the schedule (at UC Santa Barbara and versus Canisius) were canceled. Carlos Rodon starts 0-1 after giving up three runs and hitting three batters.

9. Ole Miss (3-0)
Trending :
Last week: NR
Of note: The Rebels' bats are molting hot after winning three at Stetson by a combined score of 26-3. Catcher Will Allen net six hits and 10 RBIs in the three games.

10. Cal Poly (3-0)
Trending :
Last week: NR
Of note: Third straight year that Poly opens with a sweep at home, though this time it was vs. Kansas State. Matt Imhoff tallied 14Ks in Friday's 3-0 win.

11. Rice (2-1)
Trending :
Last week: NR
Of note: With a watered-down Conference USA this year, taking two of three wins at Stanford will be a huge shot in the arm for the RPI when June rolls around.

12. Virginia (2-1)
Trending :
Last week: 11
Of note: There aren't a lot of marquee names on Virginia's nonconference slate, so Friday's 8-3 loss to Kentucky was something to flag. But the Cavs had a nice two-win rebound against VMI and UNC-Wilmington to close the weekend.

13. Clemson (2-1)
Trending :
Last week: 9
Of note: This is a precarious spot for the Tigers, having lost 6-5 on Friday to Eastern Michigan and then playing two more close games. They need to shape up, or they could fall farther down the rankings next time.

14. Mississippi State (2-1)
Trending :
Last week: 13
Of note: Western Carolina gave MSU its first loss in Game 1. But two wins followed, including career W No. 500 for coach John Cohen.

15. UCLA (2-1)
Trending :
Last week: 16
Of note: Despite a 1-0 loss to Portland on Friday, the Bruins' bullpen threw 11.5 innings with 13 K's and gave up just four hits. Sound familiar?

16. TCU (2-1)
Trending :
Last week: 14
Of note: Starting pitchers Brandon Finnegan and Preston Morrison combined for 15.0 innings of work, giving up seven hits, no runs and 18 K's versus Jacksonville.

17. Texas Tech (3-1)
Trending :
Last week: NR
Of note: It was a bully of a weekend for the Red Raiders, who downed Indiana three straight games after a 1-0 setback on Friday. The pitchers posted a 1.25 ERA against a potent offense.

18. Kentucky (2-1)
Trending :
Last week: NR
Of note: The Wildcats made some national waves with the 8-3 win Friday over Virginia.

19. Oklahoma State (3-0)
Trending :
Last week: 19
Of note: Two of the three wins at the UTA/Hilton Invitational were of the come-from-behind variety. OSU pitchers also posted a 2.00 ERA with 28 K's.

20. Florida (2-1)
Trending :
Last week: 15
Of note: The Gators were out-hit 28-21 in three games versus Maryland, and things get even more serious now. A three-game road trip to Miami is on tap this coming weekend.

Five on deck: Indiana (1-3), Arizona State (2-1), Mercer (3-0), Washington State (1-2), Miami ( 2-1)

BY reading this, it looks like Ole Miss will give us some tough competition on our first SEC series in March also Clemson looks like they had some bumps in the road this weekend, but as always a rival is a rival, cannot take any team with a grain of salt. Overall good read.....Go Gamecocks...
