Default Prayers

Lost a good guy last night. Please keep Tims family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

Quote:
We are sad to share with everyone that after a fight of 4 1/2 years, Tim lost his courageous battle with cancer tonight. Throughout this fight, Tim and Jenny have exhibited the type of courage and determination that made our families proud. They have both touched the lives of so many in positive ways and their positive impact will last a long time. In return, we have all been blessed to watch how their strength, faith and love for each other buoyed them through this fight.

Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes during this "journey". We will let everyone know when memorial plans have been made.

Thank you and God bless.

About Tim and Jenny

Tim & Jenny were both born and raised in Greenville, SC. He attended Riverside High School and she attended Travelers Rest High. They both continued on at the University of South Carolina with Tim pursuing a degree in Sport and Entertainment Management while Jenny worked toward degrees in Marketing & Entrepreneurial Management.

During that time Tim was a member of the Carolina baseball team and spent his time at various coaching jobs while Jenny joined Chi Omega where she spent her time with various volunteer opportunities and internships.

Tim & Jenny were introduced a year after she graduated from Carolina and had moved back from Charlotte by a mutual friend. They were married three years to the day of their first date and have begun building their lives together in Greenville.

How Tim was diagnosed.

“We are asked many questions about the diagnosis, current status and treatment. Most are legitimate, some are inappropriate and some are just downright hilarious. How the cancer was found is one of the questions we are asked most often & we are more than happy to answer. Hopefully by others knowing the story they can know what they should be looking out for and can get an earlier diagnosis if they were to get it and we’re always happy to answer any questions about this situation.”

Tim was plagued with stomach troubles starting with one particular instance he remembers in high school but in 2009 those stomach troubles were getting much worse. His acid reflux was getting more intensified and he was having an upset stomach more & more often. After putting it off for a time he visited his general practitioner who gave him a new reflux prescription & diagnosed him with IBS.

Fast-forward a few months and the reflux & “IBS” are worse & more frequent than before. Tim goes back to his GP who refers him to a gastroenterologist for an endoscopy & colonoscopy. The appointment is scheduled for the lull after the holidays and finally occurs on January 25, 2010. During the scoping they find that his esophagus is in excellent shape as is his stomach but they unfortunately find that is not the case with his colon where there is a quarter sized tumor growing.

The gastroenterologist took a small biopsy of the tumor for testing and immediately referred Tim to a colorectal surgeon that afternoon. Surgery was then scheduled for the following week and the journey began.
