I sure do hope Dylan stands out as an elite QB this season or we will be right back in a qb controversy that we don't need ! If Connor Mitch or B.N. are better I hope they get the starting nod.

IT'S MY GAMEFACE !
|
![]() My Opinion:
Dylan is the kind of kid that will not relax enough to allow either Noso or Connor to gain that kind of run on him for the starting spot. Dylan will work his ass off to keep it. ... Based on practice so far, neither of he guys behind him are anywhere close to taking the starting spot from him AND Even if you called the practice performances "toss ups" with Dylan and either of the two behind him, You can't drill game experience into a first year starter no matter how many seasons' they've been with the team and worked in the offense IN PRACTICE. Dylan is THE MAN right now. He's earned it, and he's the better of the QBs we have right now. Barring Injury, he'll be the starter the entire season. He'll do an excellent job running the offense for us this fall.

![]() Spurt I agree Dylan should and will be the starter but I can't help thinking what if??? What if we holding back Connor Mitch because Dylan has game experience and Connor could become our Johnny Football or Famous Jameis!

![]() 1) I hope Dylan is the type to not let Spurrier's comments go to his head and get complacent in his efforts to improve and hone his game. This season will be his one and only shot to prove what kind of a QB he can be - there are no "do-overs" for him. He's been around Shaw enough to have learned from his efforts and work ethic, and hopefully will try his best to even surpass those...
2) I also hope both Brendan and Connor don't take Spurrier's comments as meaning that they have no shot to still substantially contribute to the team this season. We've all learned over the past 2-3 seasons that it's never etched in granite that the QB at the start of the season will be the QB at the end. With all the injuries and poor performances, the back-ups really are a breath away from taking the field in critical junctures of games, and Brendan and Connor need to prepare as best they can so that they're ready to step in and perform if called upon. I still expect to see both take substantial snaps this season, even if they don't start.... |

![]() i have to agree with you, spurt. if you're gonna unseat Dylan- you better be REAL good. i know he had some rough spots at times behind Shaw, but he's a gamer out of Connor's mold

DT might be the next Johnny Football, or it might be Nosovitch or Scarnecchia. Mitch could be, or he may never play a down here. Play the best option, and go from there. |

![]() do you think Thompson will make it on the preseason covers/media guide again? I could see him and Mike Davis being on there.

If C2 doesn't trust you..

![]() I've been saying this for a long time. Given what is returning on offense and how favorable the schedule appears to be, you ride Dylan until the wheels fall off (aka playing them out of the conference championship) .. Not only is Coach Spurrier showing loyalty to his Senior and rewarding Dylan's hard work and patience but next year is a tremendous rebuilding project for his offense and it makes total sense to break a new QB in then. Especially because quite bluntly, we probably won't be very good with all the youth we will have on the field in 2015.
Kind of scary to think about .. 2015 will have a new QB, probably a new starting RB, an entirely new rotation at WR, 4 new starters on the OL, and probably an entirely new depth chart at Tight End.

![]() Agreed ! Player development here is so much different than we are use to being subjected to in the past! SOS really has done wonders with his staff here .

![]() Good article, thanks for posting.
It's great to have a senior starting quarterback. It was with Shaw last year and I think we'll see the same kind of leadership and production this season. |

![]() Dylan seems to really harbor the role of the team leader! Effort will not be an issue with him. I don't see him being complacent!

![]() To be the number one.....you have to beat out the number one!!! They will have their chances to prove themselves just like Dylan did. Spurrier has never been afraid to yank a QB if he is not producing.

![]() My only concern, based only on those games DT started last two years, was his throwing mechanism, especially for a mid-long pass when he faced an incoming blitz or shrinking pocket. It seemed to me that he was releasing the football without enough shifting of his weight to his left foot under such situation. Anyone noticed?
Other than that I am fully confident his ability and effort as our starting quarter back. I hope we will have a lot of blowout games so that whoever back him up has plenty of PT to gain experience for 2015. |
