Only if she had already used her redshirt year. In this case she hasn't redshirted so she will have 3 years to play after sitting out a year wherever she ends up.

Yep. To use Kelsey Bone as an example, she sat out a year then played 2 at aTm and forwent her senior year for the WNBA. So she still had 3 years eligibility after leaving USC.

Wow, she really might transfer here. I wonder if too much talent would hurt chemistry?

I do not think that she would come to USC, but my god if she did our lineup would just be ridiculous

Yeah, maybe she doesn't have an exact destination in mind and is going to reevaluate teams and we are in the running. Maybe Dawn Staley is the perfect person to help her be more mature and level-headed. Maybe she says nevermind and calls it off and keeps playing for UNC. All I know, is we could really use someone who is that talented a scorer and shooter from the outside. She draws a lot of attention which opens things up for other players. I don't think it would do anything but GOOD for our chemistry so long as she gets along with everyone and is a team player. That's a big if though.

Think you guys are wrong about the eligibility issue. When a player transfers to another D1 school because 'I don't like it here.' he(she) must sit out a year and lose that year of potential playing time. In effect, they will only be allowed to play three years, not four, and the sit-out year can not be your redshirt year.

In other words, if DeShields transfers to another D1 school, she will only get to play two more years at the new school after sitting out a year. During the sit-out year the player can practice with the team but can not play in games.

I'd love to have her talent but she'd have to defer some to other players in some situations. Hopefully if she comes here, all the ladies play together unselfishly like UCONN.

Pretty sure you are wrong on this one. Like others have said kelsey bone is the perfect example. USC, sit out, Texas A n M, Texas A n M. She then declared for the Draft with year of eligibility left

That is because of the rules of the WBNA. I think read that you play in the WBNA if:

1) you are 22 years old.
2) you use all your academic elligibilty
3) you play 2 years in another pro league
4) When your freshman class graduates (4 years).

Someone in WBB needs to go ahead and write the rules down. That way it would be easy to reference in situations like this in order to find out what the truth is.

They have to sit out, but they have 5 years to play 4, just like every other sport.
