Default Needs for 2016 class

IMHO offensive and defensive tackles are the biggest needs...We also need to sign two or three great running backs, and 4 wide receivers...You always need to sign great pass rushers and corners..

Who are the best OTs and DTs we have a good chance with?

Wrong recruiting forum, but would be a good question for basketball. Besides Woods, who is on our wish list and what are our needs?

Woods is obviously #1.

Aric Holman was here a few weeks ago and decided to go back to the 2016 class. Louisville is after him hard.

Sedee Kieta appears to be high on our wish list and Dewen Huell, as well.

Martin is going toe to toe with the blue bloods in recruiting.

Athletic guards and athletic big guys appear to be our targets.

In two words SEVENTH WOODS......

Edrice Adebayo -- I'm not sure how much of a shot we have at getting him.... He is a stud 6'9 PF from NC but we are recruiting him hard
Tony Bradley 6'10 PF similar to Dewen Huell
Jonathan Isaac- 6'10 SF are the highest profile names that I know we are recruiting very hard!

Nice, I hope that's true. Now, PJ just has to be good enough to keep us improving, but not good enough to be a 1st round pick.

I think it all depends on Bunch qualifying.

If we get Bunch in our roster will look (most likely) like this for the 2016-17 season (without class of 2016 recruits):

Dozier
Stroman
Notice
Gregory
Thornwell
Blanton
McKie (assuming no one else comes in and replaces Blanton or McKie)
Bunch
Silva
Cobb

That leaves 3 open scholarships:

The first player that is likely to commit is Seventh Woods.

I think the other 2 spots have to go to post players. There have been some names listed here that would be very much welcome additions to the team.

The guys we have offered thus far are:

Juwan Durham (no way)
Aric Holman (lot of confusion here but trending Mississippi State)
Sedee Keita (from Greenville & listed as warm on TBS)
James Banks (cold)
Nyseir Brooks (cold)
Dewan Huell (top 10)

I think another guy to watch out for is Jordan Bruner who is the teammate of PJ at Spring Valley.

Of those names, Keita is one that I would see CFM chasing hard. Bruner is a possibility, but he'll have to continue to show a "stock improvement" trend for one of the remaining two scholarships to be his.

Still not seeing the Aric Holman thing. Yes, I get it that Louisville was hard after him. But watching the tape on him makes me scratch my head as to what coaches are seeing that makes him THAT attractive. (And I'm not saying he stinks, by any means... just not totally sold on being in the mix on this one).

I wondered why we have not offered Bruner, when did we offer Keita and Holman?

If he plays good enough to be a 1st RD draft pick then we will make the tourney and win a game without a doubt, I will take the 1st NCAA win in 40 years to see PJ walk filthy rich into the night after one year!

Aric Holman seems to be an upside type of thing. Potential to be a stretch four. Athleticism would be high. Just needs to add muscle.

Good question. I think this is a similar situation to Mack.

What AAU team will Bruner play for?

One guy on TBS has already picked he'll be a Gamecock, FWIW.

I'm still not there. Here's a site that says basically EXACTLY what you said, but look at the "Needs to Improve" and then down the page, the "skills review".

https://future150.com/hs/basketball-...holman-pf-2015

I've watched Aric's playing and just am not seeing it. He's good, but I don't make the leap from he's good to he's got potential to be a stretch four. When you're slightly above average in EVERY part of your game, with a few highlights here and there, for someone to arbitrarily say "if he gains strength and skills, he can develop into an all-conference college player," that's a pretty HUGE leap (or "if" in this case) in my mind.

I'm all for college coaches taking the chance on "project" players, but right now, the Gamecocks can ill afford another skinny 6'8" or taller player who takes time to mature.

Aric will fit well into SOMEBODY'S system... I just don't see it for CFM and staff. (But, I've said it before, and I'll say it again... I've been wrong on at least a few occasions).

He's just a raw player. The thing he's got going for him is his high motor and his ability to play above the rim. He'll be an asset on defense but like most freshman post players he will have to develop on offense. I have read that he has improved his shot, but adding pounds is a must.
