Already at 230-pounds Woods has established as one of the top defensive linemen in central Florida regarding of age or class affiliation. He gets off the ball well and establishes good leverage. When he does this Woods wins most battles. For a younger player he does a nice job using his hands as weapons, especially in tossing blockers off of him. If there’s an area of concern it’s his speed off the edge. But he still has a lot of [physical] maturing to do.

Quote:
DE Jordan Woods of Citra, FL has USC among his top six schools at the moment. Is it because of USC's recent run of success with defensive ends? No. Is it due to the new football facilities under construction? Not at all. Woods makes no bones about it. USC is one of his favorites because Steve Spurrier is one of his favorites.
Quote:
Woods last talked with his Gamecock recruiter Steve Spurrier Jr. a couple of weeks back. The rest of his lead pack are Florida, West Virginia, Louisville, Miami and Tennessee. He wants to visit all of his favorites this summer then take official visits to his final five schools before make his commitment. He visited Florida in June because it's close to home and because the Gators are recruiting him hard.
Quote:
He's not claiming a leader among his top six saying it was a brand new start for all of them when he cut his list to six.

We haven't heard much about d lineman this class but being on Jordan Woods short list is a bright spot for sure. Need to make it happen and land him though. He already has terrific size and good looking film.

He'd have to come to campus for that to happen.

247 analysts have him at 88% CB going to Florida. Hard to pull a kid away from there. Gonna have to work harder to make it happen.

He loves Spurrier, but I don't see that being a real factor since no one knows how long he will be here. So I share your thoughts..

That's what's frustrating to me.

Here's a line from the GoUpstate article linked..."Woods last talked with his Gamecock recruiter Steve Spurrier Jr. a couple of weeks back."

Woods then mentioned how hard UF is recruiting him, that he's a priority for them.

I don't get it. It's becoming an increasingly recurring theme that members of our staff from the HBC on down aren't communicating with players. It's currently a dead period where coaches can't call recruits, but coaches from other programs find ways to get in touch with players.

I don't want to hear the blather that I don't appreciate Spurrier and our 11 win seasons. This isn't the 90's, recruiting has changed. Our HBC and some members of our staff are being increasingly outworked by other staffs, and it's getting old.

We had those 11 win seasons solely because we were lucky enough to have had just enough "difference makers" to pull out some close games.

We keep goofing around losing "difference makers", we'll stay stuck in the rut of 6 or 7 win seasons...if we're lucky.
