Default Lattimore Tidbit

Someone was listening to his step father on the radio today and he said Marcus' hamstring problem had been blown out of proportion.....he also said he expected Marcus would play this preseaon, but the 49's were bringing him along slowly and were taking great care of him. Sounds like good news to me.

Any idea when in the preseason? I sure miss watching Latti take it to the house.

I'll still worry about him getting injured again until he gets a few yards under his belt. Is it just a coincidence he had two similar yet horrific injuries to separate legs? I pray he is not just prone to such circumstances.

I think we ALL want to see Latti play, but I wouldn't put ANY stock in what his stepdad says pertaining to his potential play in the preseason. What is he going to say, "I don't expect Marcus to play."

I think a lot of us are beginning to question Marcus' return to the field. From what Harbaugh has said this COULD be more mental than physical and who could blame Marcus?

I DO hope to see him make the field some and show well.

I tore all 3 with a severe dislocation on the field and I have never been the same mentally. I went on to play again after surgery and 14 months of rehab but was not near the player. It was all mental and I haven't escaped it, it is a huge fear that effects me as I step out of the shower.... let alone anything physical. I hope he plays and does well. I cringe thinking about it though.

Yeah dude one time, I was kicking a football and I kinda stubbed my toe a little bit - it was a real stinger.

To this day I still can't kick worth crap. Makes me wonder what could've been.

I only blew my ACL and that's been an ordeal. Definitely gives a perspective for injury recovery I didn't have before. My knee doesn't feel the same and it has taken over a year just to get the coordination back in my leg.

The only way Marcus will get over the mental aspect of the injury is to go play. It's how he operates. Sitting on the sidelines forever when he could be out there playing is just going to make it worse and worse.

Fortunately, I tend to believe that Lattimore has more mental strength than physical.

I had the same exact unhappy triad that Marcus had my Junior year of college. Through proper rehab, I have no doubt that my repaired knee is stronger than my un-repaired. I believe Marcus's desire to succeed will overcome any mental hurdles he would face. But, I've never met the kid, so what do I know.

Deep breath.....okay....Harbaugh did NOT say that.

Please tell me where any of these guys characterize Lattimore's recovery as MORE mental???

49ers General Manager Trent Baalke:
Quote:
"There's a mental hurdle and a physical hurdle you've got to overcome," he said. "And he's close."

49ers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh:
Quote:
"...it’s not yet 100 percent and I say that more from a physical aspect than from a mental."

49ers Running Back Marcus Lattimore:
Quote:
"I'm not nervous at all about it. It's a process," Lattimore said. "I've been through it and I know how it is. Once I take a few hits, it will build my confidence."
Quote:

Not me, and not the ones with skin in the game. And if anyone knows how to overcome the mental aspect, Marcus Lattimore most certainly does!

Lattimore (and Ellington) are on one of the best teams in the country, and these guys know what they are doing.

There is no way they are going to rush him into playing, and they don't need to.

We are all anxious to see him play, but they already know they have a great back, and were prepared for this when they drafted him. He is not playing for similar reasons they rest Gore.

He will play soon enough, trust it.

"Sumter was nicknamed the 'Carolina Gamecock,' for both his fierce fighting style and his attack on British soldiers after they burned down his house during the Revolution."

Marcus has shown the tenacity to come back after the first injury. And the tenacity to come back after the second injury.

He may be the best representative of the 'Carolina Gamecock' since the original. I'm not betting against him.

Talked to a few friends close to the 49ers, doesn't sound good for Latti. With Hyde coming on strong it doesn't seem like he's gonna get a chance this preseason. their words - "outlook is bleak for Lattimore"
