Default Here's a terrifying stat to see on paper.

Someone posted this on another forum:

Following signing Clowney (when we also signed Mason Harris and G.Dixon), we signed:

2012: Darius English
2013: Devin Washington, David Johnson, and Gerald Turner
2014: Blake McClain

Now, tell me that isn't frightening to see regarding defensive end.

I agree, and now I see clearly that clowney has been a much bigger key to 3 11 win seasons than I thought he was.

Between Lattimore on offense and Clowney on defense, the lion share of the teams success hinged on them

On D they lost Clowney, Sutton, Quarles, Hampton and Legree. On O, Shaw and Ellington. No other words needed.

Lattimore played in a whooping 16 games with Clowney. Don't know how he can be responsible for the teams success. Now he definitely carried us to the sec championship game in 2010 but that was before Clowney. The last three years are Clowney and shaw

Even scarier...Washington can't get healthy and Turner was moved to FB.

We have a whopping two guys playing over the past three recruiting cycles. Talk about absolutely whiffing on a position.

Breathe and hope our 2015 D-line commits stick...

Ya'll now understand why Whammy was "forced" to try something with the 3-4?

Good news is our D-line class in 2015 is probably going to be ranked best haul in the nation when you include Sawyer and Lewis (The two top JUCO DE prospects in the country) plus Blackshear and Key (two HS All Americans.) Wideman is also possibly going to play DE or DT. I expect ATLEAST 3 of those guys to contribute, add talent and depth next season.

This. We are seeing it play out now. It will take some time to figure it out, specifically on D.

I love how everyone expects freshmen to contribute. Good team don't rely on fresmen

If you watch English's high school highlights, it's easy to understand why the staff really liked him. He was like a skinny Clowney in a lot of ways. And remember, Lawing was the position coach at that time. He still has lots of time to come into his own, so let's not pass judgement on him yet.

David Johnson is what, a redshirt freshman? And we're already writing him off. Okay.

And Blake McClain is a true freshman. If you're ready to toss him out, then it probably says something about you.

I'm not a fan of the "wait until next year" mantra when it pertains to football.

We lost our identity on both sides of the ball. I don't know how long it will take to find it, but when we do we will be 10 win material (but probably it will be too late.)

There is a difference between starting a fresh wr as apposed to a freshmen corner. Big difference buddy.

Fact is, the next two years might not go the way we want them to. Having said that, the Connor Mitch era, assuming these young defensive guys pan out and our offensive line can keep it together, could be the team spurrier has been looking for since he got here. this program is not done yet and I have faith in the coaches to put the best players we have out there and continue to fight this season. Still a lot of football to be played.
