New Orleans Bowl
Southern Miss sure has some ugly uniforms in the New Orleans Bowl. It has been a good game so far. I'm amazed how quickly Troy has become a solid program in the FBS after moving up a few years ago.

the first minute in this game was by far the strangest minute i have ever seen in a football game.
-to begin the game, southern miss gets flagged for having improper equipment (not sure about the specific ruling, i couldnt hear the tv). they get charged for a time-out. --- 5 seconds in, southern miss has 1 penalty and is down 1 timeout. -on the first play from scrimmage, southern miss gets called for a false start. --- still no plays from scrimmage yet, southern miss has accumulated 2 penalties and is down a TO. -on the first completed play (possibly second) from scrimmage, SM tries an option play, the Troy defender knocks down the backwards lateral, picks it up and runs it in for the TD. ---Troy up 7-0, has not had an offensive play -On the ensuing kick-off, both teams get called for penalties. Troy was offsides and SM was called for holding on the return. Penalties off-set and rekick. what was really bad for SM was they returned it to about mid-field. ---So in the first minute (by this time there were 14:00 left on the clock exactly) the Troy kicker has kicked off 3 times.
